Turnips and yogurt? Why?

There’s a recipe in our CSA newsletter for turnips and yogurt. Why in the world, I wonder, would anyone want to have turnips and yogurt. I won’t eat them individually, let along together.  I learned that I do not like turnips through my CSA. Our first year as members brought a lot of new vegetables to our diet, including turnips. I quickly went from thinking I could stomach them if I had to, to being able to smell a small one on the counter from the back door. My husband had taken it out of the refrigerator while making a salad. He thought it was a white radish. I dislike them more than any other vegetable. I dislike them so much that when they are offered at the CSA, I will pass.  When I wrote an article for the CSA newsletter on how I had tried so many new vegetables and some were becoming new diet staples, I did note that turnips would never be one of them. The next time I was picking up at the CSA several members told me I didn’t know what I was missing. I smiled, nodded my head and pretty much told them I knew exactly what I was missing and I would not be changing my mind. I’m following the rule a hairdresser once told me. If you don’t like the smell of a product, don’t ever use it on your body or in your hair. It will not improve with use.

And yogurt and I do not see eye to eye. Milk products are not my favorite and yogurt, cow or goat, is something I avoid. I like cheese but yogurt acts differently in my stomach.  I know I’ll never eat yogurt and turnips. Ever. No matter who tells me I don’t know what I’m missing. I won’t even read the recipe.
